Too slow (6-7 days) -- improve speed?
- Add toxin gene: juvenile hormone esterase
- stops larval feeding prematurely
- only effective at first instar stage (poor design!)
- alternative: scorpion toxin (neurotoxin)
- North African toxin (no effect on mice)
- Israeli yellow scorpion also used
