Pardon me while I step up on my soapbox for a moment.
Hello there. As I'm sure you can tell from the rest of the
content of my
homepage, I'm a sexually oriented person. Sex is the most powerful form of
communication, sensation, adoration, and out-and-out pleasure exploration I
have yet to experience, and I have a feeling that I'm not going to find
another experience as earth-shattering. Unfortunately I exist in a culture
that, to a large extent, views sex as morally wrong unless "performed" as a
"marital duty." This attitude, espoused as a "family value" by a
significant portion of the leaders of this nation, seems to me to be counter
to a happy and healthy lifestyle. If people are indoctrinated to believe
that the act which gives them the most pleasure is a sin, they're going to
turn into hypocritical, oppressive puritans (please excuse the personal
bias) who use their beliefs as an excuse to enforce their own moral stance
through legislature. This premise is founded upon the concept of sin as a
crime against the soul, a concept that is purely religious in nature.
Enacting legislation on the basis of religious belief violates the First
Amendment to the Constitution of these United States of America, which
guarantees that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom
of speech...." An important freedom guaranteed by this clause is the
freedom to be free from religion should one so choose. The only criteria
government should be allowed to use to define sin is harm against others,
and violation of the essential freedoms of others. Adults should not be
forced to adhere to the moral codes of a religion they do not support and
thus should be allowed to engage in any acts to which they mutually consent.
That having been said, please enjoy these links to their fullest
extent, both as information resources and as celebrations of the many facets
of human sexuality.
