SMOKE DETECTORS
Smoke detectors should be installed on the ceiling, or 6 to 12 inches below the ceiling, every 40 feet on each floor of your home. The detectors should not be installed above "drop down" ceilings or behind acoustic walls. Test the detectors monthly, and replace batteries at least once every year.
