It was a beautiful May afternoon. The day the whole city of Louisville, KY waits all year for had finally arrived, and they were ready to PARTY! ...The coolers were iced, the lawn chairs were packed, and the whiskey was in my pants. Here's a small sample of our experience at Derby 1995:
The Kentucky Derby is one of the most unique annual sporting events in the country because it attracts such a wide variety of people. There are millionaires and celebrities in the private suites, businessmen and women in the clubhouse, and partyers in the infield. As you can see, we were in the infield...
It was a big crowd this year:
Over 100,000 people attended in 1995.
Sometimes it gets a little out-of-hand and you get a visit from these guys:
You have to get there early to get a good spot. These guys apparently set up camp the previous week, because they had one of the most popular sites. If you can't read the sign, it says, "Have you had your BOOBIES checked? We check all sizes for FREE!"
But if you get there too early, you'll spend your afternoon like this guy...
People come from all over the world for the Kentucky Derby, and the only thing EVERYONE wants to see is COOL HATS! So this year we set out to find some of the coolest:
