 The foster daughter of Bail Organa, and a member of the royal family of Alderaan, she grew up in politicts.  She became the youngest member of the Senate in history at the age of barely eighteen.  Her aunts were always pestering her about being a proper princess, and if it put paramount stress on her, it also made her the greatest politician in the galaxy.
 She became involved with the Rebellion when her ‘father' did. She was captured and interrogated by Darth Vader but refused to reveal the location of the Rebel's main base.  She was forced to watch as her home planet, Alderaan, and her entire life was destroyed in a single laser blast.  She lied in an attempt to mislead the Empire, but it didn't stop Alderaan's explosion.
 She was rescued from her detention cell by young Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and his co-pilot, Chewbacca.  After escaping into hyperspace they arrived at the Rebel base on Yavin IV.  They destroyed the Death Star there, and scored the rebellion's first major blow at the Galactic Empire.
 She fell in love with the smuggler, Han, although slow to admit it.  She also found out that Luke was her brother, but that also meant that Darth Vader was her true parent.  She didn't openly acknowledge this fact for years after she found out.  When the second Death Star was destroyed she entered into trying to build the New Republic into a functioning government.
 She married Han after a long dispute and rivalry between him and Prince Isolder, who also saught her hand in marriage.  Leia became a mother of Jedi twins, Jacen and Jaina, as well as another Force-strong boy, Anakin.  She then became the Chief of State of the New Republic, following Mon Mothma's resignation.
 Luke has been trying to teach her to be a Jedi, but she doesn't have the time.  The New Republic is going strong and it is largely because of Leia Organa Solo.
