Synopsis of
The Empress
Teenage brother and sister Simone and Clay Gareth are visited in their home in Indiana by Razabera the Fijat, a cat-sized, invisible ambassador from the lost continent called the Fold. Razabera reveals that they are descendants of an empress who left the Fold in 1404 A.D., and that Clay is by rights Emperor of the Fold and Simone a princess. Furthermore, their royal authority is needed to prevent a great war in the Fold.
Though they manage to reach the Fold through a door in a nearby cave, the teens are soon separated. Simone makes her precarious way to the Council of Intelligent Species, is accepted as Empress in Clay's absence, and journeys eastward to claim the Crown. Along the way she encounters treachery and bandits, plague and battle, and a massive young friend named Athlaz, mightiest of the warriors of the Forest Obscure. More importantly, she opens her heart to Ulrumman, the maker of all things.
