The City Allegories

Pride House,

Grace House,

& Sandhill Street

They drive cars, use cell phones, and shop at the mall, but they're allegorical characters with names like Pride and Faith.  If you find Pilgrim's Progress tedious or hard to understand, you might like this kind of allegory--fast paced, funny, and set in modern times.

Pride House
Young Mr. Pride is marrying Miss Doubt, causing grief to his cousin Reason.  Reason could get help from Faith Orchard and her family, but it might cost the cousins their City citizenship.

Grace House
If Dignity and Reason could only publish their book The Pride Story, God would be glorified and, incidentally, they would make barrels of money.  So why does Miss Obscurity keep doing things to prevent publication?

Sandhill Street
In dealing with Neglect, Folly, and some other disagreeable relatives, Dignity and Reason don’t seem to comprehend how much they need the help of their young friend Gentleness.
