.wav Introduction
The I.S.U. Physics department acquired an Instructional Scanning Tunneling Microscope in January of 1995 and has been conducting research under the direction of Dr. John Swez, Professor. The specimens imaged to date are not by any means cutting edge, but there is currently a joint project between the Physics and Life Science department that will hopefully yield images of biological specimens. As these images are acquired, the page will be updated... currently, the images available on the page are of two items, a gold holographic diffraction grating and a slab of highly-oriented pyrolytic graphite.
