Throughout the Bible, in many places, including the Old and New Testaments God reveals His nature to Humanity and His desire for the kind of relationship He wants to have with people and the kind of relationship that He wants people to have with one another.
In many passages of Scripture in both Testaments God reveals Himself using human terminology which, although limited, expresses God's essential nature in terms of RELATIONSHIP.
"In the beginning God
created the heavens and the earth....." Genesis 1:1
".....and the Spirit
of God was hovering over the waters....."
Genesis 1:2
"Have we not all one Father? Did not one God
create us?" Malachi 2:10
"For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6
[Jesus] "For I have come down from heaven not
to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will
of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given me,
but raise them up at the last day. For my Father's will is that everyone
who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I
will raise him up at the last day."
John 6:38-40.
[Jesus] "Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted Him authority over all people that He might give eternal life to all those you have given Him. Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17: 1-3.
"Then God said, 'Let us make man in our image, in our likeness.....So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." Genesis 1:26-27
".....the Lord God formed the man from the
dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and
the man became a living [soul]." Genesis 2:7
".....but it is the spirit in a man, the breath
of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.....The Spirit of God has
made me; the breath of the Almighty gives me life." Job 32:8; 33:4
"May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify
you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless
at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful
and he will do it." 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
