Running the RosterApp Example
Setting Up
- In a terminal window, start the Cloudscape database server.
cloudscape -start- In another terminal window, start the J2EE server.
j2ee -verbose- Run the
deploytoolutility.deploytoolDeploying the Application
- In
deploytool, open theRosterApp.earfile.
- Choose File
Open from the main menu.
- In the Open Object dialog box, navigate to the
j2eetutorial/examples/earsdirectory.- Select the
RosterApp.earfile.- Click Open Object.
- Deploy the application.
- In deploytool, select
RosterAppfrom the tree view.- Choose Tools
Deploy from the main menu.
- In the Introduction dialog box, select the Return Client JAR checkbox.
- In the Client JAR File Name field, make sure that the file is called
RosterAppClient.jarand that its path refers to thej2eetutorial/examples/earsdirectory.- Click Next until the Review dialog box appears.
- Click Finish.
Running the Client
- In a terminal window, go to the
j2eetutorial/examples/earsdirectory.- Set the
APPCPATHenvironment variable toRosterAppClient.jar.- Type the following command:
runclient -client RosterApp.ear -name RosterClient -textauth- At the login prompts, enter
guestfor the user name andguest123for the password.
