Advanced Dungeons & Dragons
Campaign Setting #1
As of now this page will cover the Leviathan campaign world which I have developed for the AD&D game.  I would like to see contributions for other worlds, character classes, races, etc. so as to further expand this pages content.  All contributions are welcome.
It will be quite some time before I can transcribe the entire campaign world onto this page so please be patient.  Many portions will be half worked or stupid until I am able to dig up and organize all of my work.

What is Leviathan?
The planet Leviathan is a living entity, a mighty titan eons old.  Upon its surface life has grown and flourished as the titan lay dormant, curled into a tremendous sphere, waiting.
The Leviathan Campaign is run using 1st Edition AD&D with some references to 2nd Edition source material.  All of this material is easy to convert for 2nd Edition players.
The Battle of Titus and Leviathan.
Leviathan had given birth to two sons long before man had ever risen upon his surface, great moons which orbited his dormant form, Titus and the other moon.  It was not however until many years after humanity had formed its greatest empire that Titus turned his heart to evil and rose against his father.  Leviathans heart beat again after its long hibernation and the titan uncurled to face his son in mortal combat.  The combat was brief but fierce.  Three blows were struck by father and son.  Titus attacked first, his first blow cutting deep into Leviathan.  Enraged, Leviathan attacked in return, slicing a rift in the heavens and then with his other blow breaking Titus asunder and scattering him accross the ether.  In a wink of the Leviathans eye a year had passed and his first son had died, Leviathan returned to his sleep.
Kalay
Before the awakening of Leviathan a great empire had risen.  The merchant vessels of Kalay plied the waters of nearly every ocean, their powerful a.  The empire fell within a heartbeat

Kabul
Before Kalay's collapse the empire established an entire island to house its dead.  Huge masoleums were erected from stone dredged from the isles rocky shores while vast tracts of stone pathways wound atop deep catacombs buried far below.  An entire city rose, its only living habitants being several score of caretakers.  The main portion of this necropolis bore the same name as the isle which bore it, Kabul.  Then Leviathan woke.  Kabul's caretakers were cut off from the rest of the world, waiting for a sign of a supply ship or a means of escape.  What wood there was had been entirely depleted for the construction of the great necropolis.  The shores of Kabul were nothing but swamp, their bedrock having been dredged to create the cities countless tombs.  The inhabitants were left with no food and no method of raising it themselves and ultimately took to eating the dead, becoming something not quite alive yet not entirely dead.  The practice warped them and many went insane or died during these horrible times.  Thus was the race of ghouls born.  Most of the ghouls lost what intelligence they had possessed in their former lives and ran raving through the necropolis.  Yet others found retained their sentience and began building for themselves a new civilization.  These greater ghouls called themselves the Ghalazid.
It was not long before the Ghalazid race began to flourish.  Some of them found that through consuming they could retain a portion of the deads  memories.  Ultimately the Ghalazid became masters of necromancy, animating as servants those corpses they did not consume.  Hunting parties would venture from their city of Kabul, slaying the few wild beasts that had come to inhabit the land and hunting down their lesser cousins for sport.  It was not long however before another tragedy struck this decadent race.  A small faction of the lesser ghouls who had taken to living deep within the catacombs beneath the isle emerged.  The wretched beasts now held a gleam of cunning intelligence in their eyes and terrible ancient weaponry was grasped in their claws.  The stench of death hung around these beasts that would come to be known as Ghasts and the lesser ghouls flocked to them.  It seemed that quite suddenly the hunters had become the hunted, or rather the besieged.  Wave upon wave of ghoul fell upon the gates of Ghalazid controled necropolis.  Though possessing greater magic and intellect, the sheer ferocity of their lesser cousins led by their devious generals drove the Ghalazid further and further back until they held only the Muert Spire in their feeble grasp.
It was then that the greatest of the Ghalazid's emerged from his sojourn into the catacombs.  Ancient energies crackled about him as he stepped before the attacking ghouls.  He spoke and his word was fire, leaving only ash in his wake.  He leveled his spear and azure lightning lept from its blade, consuming those foolish enough to stand in his path.  The Ghalazid, seeing this, rallied and pressed a counter attack.  The lesser were cut down and their ghast masters  either fled or were destroyed.  The hero then taught his people even greater feats of magic and revealed to them the weapons and ways of their ancient predecessors, those many things which they had forgotten during their times of strife.  From this was forged the mighty nation which travelers from Kalay rediscovered decades later.
Other Lands
There are other lands currently in the works.  My next project is an arid land which is dominated by the flying ships of the Grell.  Here it is humanity that has been driven underground.
Current Campaigns
I am currently running two campaigns set in the Leviathan campaign world.  I prefer to keep my gaming groups very small and emphasize on character development as well as role playing ability.  Each campaign is helping define the game world and my sincere thanks go out to each and every one of the players.  I am attempting to run each with slight variations in style and content so as to find an ideal medium for character development.  How much money, magic, and role playing needs to be involved in a game for it to be enjoyable.
Click on the campaign name for character pictures (these guys have done a great job painting their miniatures) and further information on individual characters.

The Bloomington Campaign
This game currently has three players and is run in Bloomington, Indiana.  The party consists of a Ranger, Magic User, and Archer (Fighter).  Each player began with a zero level character in the small farming community of Bannon.  So far the campaign has had a low money and magic item yield (this is my stingy bastard game).
The Terre Haute Campaign
This game currently has two players and is run in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The party consists of a Thief and a Ranger.  Each player began with a first level character in the fishing village of Sengall.  The campaign has had a high money and low magic yield.
