“The foundations of Roller Hockey was formed the first time a college student laced-up and started skating around a deserted parking lot
or tennis court with a stick and a ball. Since then, the sport has evolved greatly. The single student first evolved to a few friends screwing around in that same deserted parking lot. Then, after a few more skaters began
participating, the "skating around" evolved into a barbaric-like scrimmage, complete with baseball gloves as standard goalie equipment. Now, intramural recognition and organization, club leagues, and travel teams are
slowly replacing these once student-organized scrimmages. The deserted parking lot has become, in many instances, a new, indoor, tile floor complex complete with boards that extend much higher above the surface than the old
parking lot curbs. And thank goodness, a puck has replaced the ball.”

This is an excerpt from the history page of the Collegiate Roller Hockey League’s web page. The CRHL is our Governing body.
Each part of the United States is broke down into regions. ISU has been a part of the Midwest region (MCHRL) sense it began its club in 1995. The
CRHL is dedicated to regulate, expand, and positively promote collegiate roller hockey while realizing the importance of enhancing the experience of the individual player.
Sick of playing in the streets and on small club teams, in 1995 roller hockey players attending ISU had a vision.
A vision to practice to be the best, compete to be the best, and to prove they are the best. Thus, the ISU Roller Hockey Sycamores were born.
For five seasons, through blood, sweat, and tears, they have risen to the challenge that is competing in the MCRHL. There has been our fair share of setbacks and defining moments, but as the years continue our fortitude
to be champions rage in our hearts.
The 2000 season has proven to be a revolutionary one for the ISU team. With each practice
and meeting the depth and skill of our roster grows by leaps and bounds. One day we will bring victory back to the Wabash Valley. We March…no, we ROLL on to victory!
