Tri-Beta National Biological Honor Society

The goals of the Tri-Beta Biological Honor Society:           

·        To promote biological understanding and appreciation

·        To provide activities and experiences in biology

·        To open new avenues to research involvement and understanding    

·        To build a “community of scientists” by strengthening relationships between the undergraduate and graduate students and faculty members in the biological sciences departments

 

Membership with Tri-Beta will give you an opportunity to get to know students and faculty with the same interests as yourself through meetings, service projects, and social events. You will have opportunity to learn more about research projects of faculty and graduate students. You will also have access to: TriBeta district and national meetings for presentation of your research, Bios, an undergraduate journal, for publication of your research, and several research funding and scholarship opportunities.

 

Requirements for Membership*

Fees are due at the time of application.

 

Regular Membership: 

·        Be an undergraduate major in the biological sciences

·        Enrolled in at least the second semester of the 2nd year of courses

·        Have taken at least 3 Biology courses (at least one beyond introductory level) and have an average grade of at least a B in all biological sciences courses.

·        Must maintain good academic standing.

·        National membership = $45 (one time only); Local membership = $5 (annually)

 

Associate Membership:

·        Have a strong interest in the biological sciences, but ineligible as a regular member.

·        National membership = $35 (one time only) ($10 additional required to advance to regular membership); Local = $5 (annually)

 

Graduate Membership:

·        Be a graduate student currently enrolled in the biological sciences or a Faculty Member in a biological sciences

·        National membership = $45 (one time only); Local = $5 (annually)
